Enterprise Division

Chief Operating Officer: Vincent DURIEUX
The remit of this division is to provide practical support to companies during key phases of their growth, be they foreign companies seeking a European presence, Paris Region companies having to restructure or relocate, or Paris Region technology SMEs wishing to establish operations in the United States. The division comprises 3 teams:
  • A team of market sector managersto define business development strategies (identification of market segments and target countries, methods of approaching project leaders) and implement these strategies in close collaboration with the Invest in France Agency (AFII) and regional economic development partners (departmental authorities, chambers of commerce, competitiveness clusters, etc.). The team also helps complex projects establish operations in the region and in particular puts them in touch with commercial or technological partners.
  • A team of consultants in charge of inward investment to help project leaders identify the range of services required to make their relocation a success. The team either provides these services itself or arranges them through specialist service providers. Depending on what is required, the services can include searching for a location, information about the marketplace or key stakeholders, clarifi cation of the legal or tax implications of relocation, help with staff recruitment or assistance to newly arrived families.
  • An economic changes team to provide support tailored to the situation of each impacted company or region: initial support for companies planning to diversify, reposition themselves or make a pre-emptive takeover bid; subsequent support of projects to revitalise the sites or areas in question.

These three teams work closely with PREDA's two offices in Shanghai and San Francisco respectively, which are responsible for representing Paris Region as well as carrying out local business development. The San Francisco office, known as PRIME (Paris Region International Mission Enterprise), is also heavily involved with a collective platform currently being rolled out to promote Paris Region technology companies to their Californian counterparts. The platform will include the Californian branch of Hubtech 21, created at the end of 2009 to help Paris Region technology SMEs expand into the United States.

Strategic Division for Sustainable Regional Development

Director: Vincent GOLLAIN
Tasked with promoting the host areas and helping them to adapt their offer to beat off international competition. This division comprises 4 units:
  • An Economic and Regional information Unit, which gathers and provides information that is directly relevant to PREDA's activities and those of its partners. It also produces technical documents on the Paris Region economy in close collaboration with PREDA's partners (in the form of Key Figures and Economic News) and manages the foreign relocations observatory.
  • A Regional Promotion Unit which gathers information from businesses and host areas to help clarify and promote the regional and local offer, primarily through the Econovista Paris Region interactive map and the Regional Agreements of the Regional Council.
  • A Sustainable Development Unit, whose role is to make sustainable development a component of the regional economic offer. It supports the regional departments in tailoring their economic offer to fulfil sustainable development criteria.
  • A Regional Attractiveness Unit to coordinate and oversee the Regional Council's P2A Attractiveness Action Plan. It also implements some of the plan's cross-functional initiatives.

Strategic Marketing and Communication Division

Director: Frédérique de BAST
Tasked with developing the region's policy to promote its international economic image. This involves developing the region's positioning and image, and defining powerful promotional campaigns to appeal to specifi c targets, primarily international entrepreneurs and economic opinion leaders (particularly journalists). The division designs the form and content of all communications tools aimed at promoting Paris Region's economic attractiveness to an international audience, such as brochures, magazines, the website and multimedia tools. It devises and implements public relations campaigns, handles press relations, organises promotional events and takes part in trade shows, usually consolidating the initiatives of the entire region. It also supports the Enterprise Division in its various promotional programmes. At local level it handles PREDA's corporate communications, providing information and reports on its activity.

Meeting and Exhibition Industry Division

Director : Jean-Luc MARGOT-DUCLOT
This department acts as an interface between the business community (trade shows and events) and the authorities, and carries out specific actions (e.g. international promotion, support for the launch of new events) to help the sector face the challenges of international competition. Its role has been formalised in a sector-specific Action Plan presented to the Region at the end of 2009. The division is also in charge of monitoring the Paris Region offer (such as the planned construction of a convention centre at Disneyland Paris and in the Coeur d'Orly business district) and the design and implementation of the Paris Region Trade Shows programme, which promotes the region internationally. The business community is closely involved both in the design and implementation of this programme, which now extends to nine target countries: the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom, Japan, China, India and Brazil.
