Paris Region Trade Shows

Publicité Paris Region Trade ShowsPart of PREDA's mandate is to plan and implement a partnership programme to promote international trade shows in the region: Paris Region Trade Shows (PRTS).

The trade show sector is a key economic activity for Paris Region providing more than 50,000 full-time jobs.

The main strategic objectives of the campaign are on the one hand to improve the image of Paris Region trade shows as both a source of business and a business destination, and on the other hand to promote and develop the Region's ranking as a an international trade show venue and therefore increase the number of international visitors.


In 2006, PREDA designed and produced an extensive promotional toolkit and set up an international communications campaign in six countries: Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Japan, China and Russia.


In 2007, initiatives included: 

  • Stepping up the promotional campaign with more direct approaches to businesses, trade show professionals, institutions and the press.
  • Promoting the whole of Paris Region's offer in Europe and mainly industrial trade shows in China, Russia and Japan.
  • Intensifying the communications campaign aimed at the press and foreign representatives in Paris; harnessing the synergies between the programme initiatives and the promotional campaigns PREDA runs throughout the year.
  • Continuing to extend the scope of the programme by distributing programme-related material in countries other than the 6 target countries; adding a Spanish version to the Internet portal, bringing the number of languages available to nine.

After two intensive years, the Paris Region Trade Shows campaign is achieving excellent results:

  • Increased number of visitors to the web portal with nearly 72,500 hits in 2007, compared with 31,000 hits in 2006 (source: ARD/XITI).  More than 75% of these visitors are international. The key target countries of the Trade Shows campaign are among the top 15 nationalities visiting the portal.
  • In 2007, 240,000 international businesses, journalists, institutions and opinion formers were direct recipients of promotional messages, in addition to exposure through advertising.
  • More than 1,200 prominent local figures took part in or were met during promotional operations, including more than 870 journalists.

In 2008, an extensive partnership with the regional tourist board further develop this initiative which, apart from the private-sector operators participating directly, brings together the Paris Chamber of Commerce & Industry, the trade show association Foires, Salons & Congrès de France and the Office de Tourisme et des Congrès de Paris (Paris conference and tourist information service).


Every year in Paris Region, 400 trade fairs and exhibitions welcome 9 million visitors and almost 100,000 exhibiting companies. As all activity sectors are represented, you are sure to find an event that will put you in touch with the maximum number of customers or suppliers.
