Cosmetic Valley

Challenges and aims

The Cosmetic Valley competitiveness cluster was given its present name in July 2005. It brings together a dozen of the leading names in the luxury products sector along with a large number of SMEs which operate both upstream and downstream of the major brands, offering a diverse range of complementary expertise in the various specialist sectors of the beauty industry (plant cultivation, formulation, tests, plastic injection moulding, packaging, POS, logistics, etc.). Cosmetic Valley has more than 300 member companies in all.

Strategic thrusts

Cosmetic Valley pools expertise and effectively raises the profile of the sector through a range of initiatives:

  • Developing synergies between cluster members - both contractors and subcontractors.
  • Promoting members' know-how nationally and internationally.
  • Promoting the Made in France label and French luxury goods.
  • Stimulating the creation of innovative products which will help companies position themselves in the global market. To achieve this, companies (major groups and SMEs) are embarking on R&D projects with the support of the universities and public laboratories based in the cluster's home region.
  • Maintaining an effective market analysis service in order to identify new areas for research and development.
  • Encouraging companies in the perfume and cosmetics sector to locate to the region.
