KNAPP Logistik Automation (1,300 employees, turnover of €180 million), based in Graz, Austria, designs, develops and markets high-performance, innovative systems for storage and automated order preparation.
Through its subsidiary KNAPP France, reactivated in November 2006, this company has decided to become a major player in the French market for applied automated handling solutions in logistics warehouses.
With many years of leadership in the pharmaceuticals distribution sector, in particular with its famous A-Frame system (ultra-fast automated retail order picking for fast-moving items), KNAPP is building on its experience and expertise in this cutting-edge sector to expand its operations across all distribution and industrial sectors. The growth sectors currently offering greatest potential include e-commerce, distance selling, cosmetics, multimedia, electronics, office supplies and spare parts.
Two projects are under way to facilitate the company's expansion in the French market, with the aim of delivering a faster, more efficient customer response:
- Creating a local technical/sales team capable of gathering client information and identifying client needs, and proposing solutions in conjunction with the specialist teams in Austria.
- Setting up a local installations maintenance offer. This maintenance offer, organised through the French subsidiary, forms part of the group's overall after-sales provision, and also includes a customer hotline.
PREDA supported KNAPP France by facilitating professional contacts and helping to design its communications programme.
