In order to protect our environment while meeting businesses’ needs and expectations, a growing number of ecologically oriented commercial properties have been emerging on the market over the past few years (for example, buildings with the HQE environmental quality label). However, this new real estate offer remains relatively little known, and for this reason the Paris Region Development Agency (PREDA) and DTZ have combined forces to produce this study and present cardinal aspects of the new offer.
This new edition of the survey conducted by IPD reveals the expectations of investors for 2009 and 2010 on the main market segments: office, logistics, business premises, retail and residential space. In 2008, despite the impact of the financial crisis and credit crunch, Paris Region emerged as the number two property investment market in Europe, with 8.4 billion euros in investments, including 41% from foreign sources.

The diversity and dynamism of the Paris Region’s commercial real estate ensures a renewal of the offer. 2007 was a fruitful year for the Paris Region: orders placed of office space rose more than 2.7 million sq.m (29.1 million sq.ft) and the amounts invested in real estate market reached a new record ?19.5 billion, making available numerous new or renovated offers. To offer investors the greatest transparency possible on this market, the Paris Region Economic Development Agency asked IPD France to draw up an annual report on the “Outlook for the real estate investment market in Paris Region” since 2004. This new edition examines investors’ expectations on several market segments: offices, residential, logistics, industrial and retail for 2007 and 2008. The results of this new survey show that the record investment volumes in 2006 is expected to be quite the same in 2007 or even more important.
In order to form part of the European Higher Education Area, universities in the Paris Region have gradually adopted the LMD scheme (Bachelor-Master-Doctorate). In all, there are 134 doctoral schools in the Paris region universities: from history and law through to genomics not to mention astrophysics and mathematics.
