Paris and its region enjoy a strategic position in Europe. As the leading urban capital in Europe, with 11.7 million inhabitants, it is located within no more than two hours from the major cities in Western Europe. The Paris metropolis has multiple rail and road connections facilitating passenger and freight access to both international airports. Its attractiveness too is a significant factor in the growth of air traffic: this is France’s leading economic region, the world’s premier tourist destination and the leading region worldwide in terms of international tradeshows and congresses.
Some empires simply seem to take wing, and their stories become part of history. Dassault Aviation is one of these: a medium-sized private group of companies, but a dominant force internationally. It is the only corporation in the world to design and manufacture combat aircraft and executive jets.
Reducing aircraft fuel consumption is a crucial environmental challenge. As France’s leading aerospace region, the Paris Region is making a major contribution to this effort; an effort made possible by its unusually diverse, structured and powerful network of manufacturing and research facilities.
For a century, the aerospace industry has grown steadily in the Paris Region. Long considered a key factor for national sovereignty, the industry is a major asset for the Greater Paris economy.
Paris Region is renowned for hosting a very large number of company headquarters - yet it is also home to a dense network of innovative, successful and highly dynamic SMEs which are generating wealth and employment. These are some of the men and women who are responsible for Paris Region's outstanding track record in this field.
It is the most dynamic French economic zone and the biggest creator of jobs. Hundreds of businesses around Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport enjoy access to the largest global markets. And there is no shortage of development projects around this thriving hub.
