1st quarter 2011: 8.2%
After falling 0.3 points between fourth quarter 2009 and second quarter 2010 (from 8.5% to 8.2%), the Paris Region's unemployment rate has since stabilised overall.
After climbing to 8.3% in fourth quarter 2010, it fell 0.1 points in first quarter 2011 back to the level that it already had in spring 2010. Also, this change in the Paris Region's unemployment rate seemed all the more modest given that the level of salaried employment has headed upward since early 2010. The trend is also disappointing compared to the dynamics observed on the national level. The unemployment rate in France has thus fallen more sharply since its turning point (9.2%, or -0.4 points compared to the final quarter of 2009). Despite these more favourable changes at the national level, the increase in the Paris Region's unemployment rate compared with the low point of first quarter 2008 remained lower than the rate observed for the entire territory (+1.7 points compared to +2.0 points).
