Business failures
2nd quarter 2011: 2,516 business failures
In second quarter 2011, there were 2,516 business failures in the Paris Region.
After a downward movement continued from fourth quarter 2009 to third quarter 2010, the number of failures is changing less favourably: after increasing by 5.1% year-over-year in fourth quarter 2010 and stagnating (+0.1%) in first quarter 2011, it grew by 1.3% in the second quarter. As a result of these three successive increases, accumulated over four quarters, the number of failures is now up by 1.2%.
What proves to be most troubling is the lag with changes on the national level: in second quarter 2011, the number of failures in France reduced for the seventh consecutive time (-3.0% compared to second quarter 2010, or -1.4% total over four quarters).
